Railway Surveys
Total Surveys have staff qualified with Railtrack PTS (Personal Track Safety) certificates. We work with Link-Up approved companies to carry out survey work within railway areas.
Staff are familiar with the safety issues of working within the railway environment. Our Link-Up approved sponsors prepare detailed Method Statements, and site safety personnel, e.g. COSS (Controller of Site Safety) etc., are provided by specialist companies, to co-ordinate and oversee the safe completion of the works.
It is worth noting that by utilising the latest
"non-contact” Direct Reflex "DR" instruments it is sometimes possible to survey the information required remotely; without the need to physically gain access to railway land. This could avoid the need for track closures etc..
Examples of the types of projects undertaken include;
- Embankment Surveys
- Monitoring Work (e.g. checking for track movement during auger boring etc.)
- Scour Protection Surveys
- Structure Surveys
As
approved Environmental Agency surveyors, we are suitably equipped to carry out scour protection surveys of railway structures in watercourses, and can carry out an associated
hydrographic survey of the river if required.
