Hydrographic & Flood Defence / River Surveys

Total Surveys are
approved Environment Agency surveyors for carrying out hydrographic surveys &
topographical surveys, and also have staff who have been specifically authorised & approved to carry out
GPS survey work for the Environment Agency (EA) regions. (The EA have a vetting procedure for individual surveyors for GPS work; in an effort to ensure certain standards are met and continuity of data).
Total Surveys are also included in the Environment Agency’s list of approved contractors, for Section 105 Natcon National Framework Agreement survey contracts; this requires work to be carried out to a detailed national specification, in partnership with a company of Hydraulic Modelling Engineers.
We have surveyors who have undergone training by hydraulic modellers as to how they utilise the survey data received. We feel this is beneficial to our understanding of their requirements.
Our surveyors have many years experience of Hydrographic Surveys; from minor watercourses to major rivers like the Rivers Tyne & Wear.
This type of survey work involves surveying open channel cross-sections across the watercourse, structure cross-sections, and flood plain topographical surveys as required.
Survey data can be provided in many formats, including AutoCAD DWG, ISIS & HEC-RAS; which are standard software packages used by hydraulic engineers. For example drawings please visit our
document download centre.
Also, increasingly now, developers are being asked to have flood risk assessments carried out to study the potential ramifications of their proposed development. Total Surveys are experienced in carrying out the required survey work for
flood risk assessment studies.
NOTE: Not all surveying companies are equipped to carry out river survey work. Total Surveys have the
necessary experience and equipment.
If you require a watercourse to be surveyed, please
contact us, we shall be pleased to provide you with a detailed quotation.
